2.5 K Lizardmen army completed

As per revised schedule, I’ve managed to complete painting my temple guards unit and so now I have a fully painted 2500 points lizardmen army. Huzzah!!!!

I even managed to get a game in against Khun Faizal over the weekend J. First win for the fully painted lizardmen ! Double Huzzah!!!

I admit that there are still minor things that I need to touch up, which I will be doing over the coming months but the important things is that this list is fully painted to tabletop standards. It’s not as nicely painted as my saim-hann but it serves the purpose well.

This will be my only second fully painted army. It’s a huge relief that I have finally managed to complete it. Nice feeling to have when you can see them all on the table fully painted and raring to go. It’s like putting that final piece in a 1750 piece jigsaw puzzle.

I bought this army around middle 2009 and only managed to get it done in Feb 2011. Nothing to be proud of and I hope I won’t be making this mistake again. So no more buying until I complete my next project.

2nd resolution is the organizing on K2 which is going well so far.

Just a reminder, guys please confirm your participation by paying your fees to Arzmi if you want that cool K2 t-shirt J.

3rd resolution starts tonite!! My 1750 space marine force. My initial target was to get it done by 31st May but now it’s going to be pushed forward to 15th May so that I can enter it for Sporecon which is scheduled to on 28th and 29th May.

I have my list, have all the models I need for the list, completed painting one squad as a test unit and quite happy with the result. So now I need to put the effort into it and finish it.

I’ll post the test unit next week. No more secrets for me this time around guysJ. I’ve created a monster trend of building armies in total secrecy and it seems like there are so many secret armies in progress at the moment. Esp true for K2. Everyone is so hush hush about their projects!!

So I’ll try to rectify this trend that I’ve created by sharing with you guys my progress for this army. Or…..perhaps I should still do it in secret…..hhmmmmmm.

Let’s see………………………..

Broke my first new year resolution

Well, in my defense i could have finished it on time if i hadn't gone back to Malaysia over the weekend :).

Not a good start i admit but i did control myself and didn't buy anything even after much temptation.

These temple guards are the last unit that needs to be painted to complete my 2.5K fully painted lizardmen army.
They're 50% complete so i should be able to complete them over this weekend.

Then its on to the long delayed space marine 1750 force.

On a side note; managed to get 2 fantasy games against arzmi when i was back and i must say i'm getting really ticked that the empire man-thing is able to get as many power dice and more dispell dice for every turn!!! And i'm playing the lizardmen....the supreme magic master??? Humans can get free dispell dice, save unused power dice then end up having more than me....???How is that!!!! Its mind boggling that it's just ....... ..

So what do u do when this happens???
a) play more games and gain experience;
b) scour the net and learn tactics;
c) buy new army...

2011 projects

Besides organizing Kindred with my brother, 2010 was by my own admittance a very disappointing year for me. Disappointing in terms of the amount of models i completed painting and the amount of games i managed to play. I know for sure that i played less than ten 40k games and managed 4 fantasy games(all 4 at end dec) for the whole year. Let’s not even talk about my blog, serious lack of commitment there.

I could fault the whole galaxy and every star in between but in the end the blame falls entirely on me. I was just lazy. Lazy and uninspired. Inspiration is a very powerful element in our hobby. And it’s very easy to be inspired when u get to meet your friends, throw some dice and hang out at the mamak till wee hours talking crap about the hobby. So it was a very refreshing experience for me being able to spend time with some of you guys during my holidays back home recently.

Which is something i’ve been dreadfully missing for the better part of 2010.

So while i’m in the mood, here goes my new year resolutions for this year.

1. Finish painting my Lizardmen army by 31st Jan.
This is on schedule as i'm trying to attend Hobby Night on the 28th Jan with a fully painted 2.5K Lizardmen army. After a marathon painting effort recently, i'm only left with 20 templeguards and 1 skink priest. The templeguards are assembled, based and waiting to be painted. 8 days to go so i should be able to complete them over the weekend. The only stumbling point being do i want to bring them back just for the weekend as i'll be flying back on the 31st. And what's the best way to carry them as i don't want to check in anything so i can get out of the airport ASAP.
Would love to play against Arzmi and Iqbal and make comments about how they managed to get such a realistic grey plastic effect. One of them even have a headless horse calvary or something :)

2. Ensure K2 will be run better than K1.
Only time will tell on this one but we have made every effort so far to make it exiciting. Up from the announcement, the puzzles to guess the event date, release of rules pack and esp the announcement of the Expandables. I think we took everyone for quite a ride up to now. Now's the time to start planning for the event and making sure every aspect of the event is covered to ensure it is run as smoothly as K1.

I've managed to get some info from reigning champion Azlan and Jeff for their K2 project. If they do decide to go ahead with this project then i wish the other participants all the best. It blew my mind when i first heard it and i'm really hoping they follow through with it. I'll not say anything more about it in case they want to keep it under wraps until they announce it in their respective forums or simply wait for the tourney. Thanks for the support guys. Efforts like yours truly make organizing an event a memorable experience.

3. Finish painting my space marine army by 31st May.
I've finally decided on a SM chapter and have actually completed one squad of 5 as test models. I've also completed buying all the models required for a 1750 fluff list so now all i need to do is assemble and paint it. Its a very fluff list which i don't expect to do too well but should be fun to play with and play against. Jeff's wraith guard list inspired me to do this. No special characters and no cheezy combos to maximise firepower or close combat. But should look good on the table.

Why 31st May? Well, for one i should be completing my term in Bangkok this April 30th. So i hope to run Legio 40K League 4 by 1st June. Am thinking of maintaining the points at 1750 but am willing to bump it to 2k if there's support for it. Or perhaps bring it down to 1500 like League 2. Also will need a partner to run this since it'll be my first time and i intend to participate as well. Any takers besides Arzmi?

4. Finish painting my saim-hann bfg fleet by 31st August.

My wife bought me this 2K list for our wedding anniversary and so far i've only managed to paint 2 vessels. So it's only fair that i finish it by this year. And hopefully someone will organize another BFG campaign so we can get all those captains out of the closets. I for one am dying to shout "Fire torpedoes!!!!"

5. I will not buy any models, codex or army books until i complete task 1,2 and 3 (hahahahhaha).

This should be difficult. Very difficult.

6. Update my blog at least bi-weekly

I’m not a person who celebrates new years so i’m just going to wish all of you a pleasant and prosperous 12 months ahead. Here’s hoping the future will always be brighter than the past.

Cheers guys :)

Kindred II

Organizing Kindred last March with Arzmi was a huge blast!!! I will be the first to admit that it was hard work designing, promoting and running the event. But the experience was worth it. That warm fuzzy feeling after finally closing the event was extra special. The kind comments we got after the event was heart warming and encouraging. So although we didn't have any prior experience organizing such an event, we think we did rather well considering the circumstances.

We had always planned to make Kindred an annual doubles event but at that time it rested on us being able to pull the first one off. Since that went rather well, next year we'll run Kindred II or K2 for short. Yes, just like the mountain.

We will change the format to spice things up a bit but not by much. So dont worry, you can still expect the same wacky experience that you got from Kindred and a bit more. That was always and will always be our main target for Kindred - to let everyone have FUN!!! Even the last placed team will walk off with a smile after participating in Kindred. Check out all the smiling faces here :)

That's our promise to you :) We will do our damnest to make it an experience you won't forget easily.

Did i mentioned that we are totally in love with Kindred? No....We totally do!!! And that's why we're going the extra distance to make it an experience you won't forget!!

The teaser poster is just a sample of our promise to you that for K2 we are setting the bar higher than the original. You do not want to miss this.

If you didn't get a chance to participate in Kindred please don't worry. Although we have made the theme similar ie doubles event, Inquisition and Saim-Hann motives etc K2 is a stand alone event!!

K2 will only be similar to Kindred in that :

1. Its a doubles event. What could be more fun than playing 40K?? Playing doubles 40K of course!!! Haven't tried it?? Now's your chance to try your hands at some tag-team mayhem in 41st millenium. Its a fun format that you don't get to play often.

2. It will have a low points entry level to allow beginners to join and experince a tournament event without having to prepare too large an army force. Also good way to meet new friends who share the same hobby and passion.

3. It will use the Legio Hobby Tournament format to let your imagination run wild when building your forces. This time we'll be releasing the Judging Form that we used to determine the Overall Hobby Champion. Building your army around these criterias will really help your cause if you're gunning for the ultimate title.

4. FOC will be released soon but expect to be spoiled for choices when you and your partner start building your combined forces to get the best synergy possible. We will give you every opportunity possible to destroy the living crap out of your opponents. But this time, it'll be more fun :)!!! Trust me on this.
Please schedule an interview with last year's Best Generals, Mousier Joospoon and Alvin Khaw for some tips on how to be the baddest and the meanest!!!

5. We will also have the People's Choice Awards. Now this award is truly something special because judging will be done by your fellow competitors not the judges. People like seeing your army, people vote for it and you get an award. Simple right??

6. We also have the Best Sportsmanship award for the coolest guys you had the pleasure of playing against. And some other awards that we're still thinking about. Again, check out photos of Kindred and try to read the awards that we gave out!!! hehehehee.

7. We will give you ample time for you to look for a partner, design your theme, create your list, paint your models (remember, low point cost so not many to paint) and do some field testing way ahead of the tournament. Did i just give away some clues for K2 date?? I hope not....

Do i sound like i'm trying to market or sell you something here?? I do...well ok, i guess i am. The more the merrier so goes the saying. We would really appreciate if you would help us make K2 a great event by signing up :)

Arzmi and me, we're doing this out of the love for the hobby and to futher develop it in our little sector of the the big galaxy.

And we need your help.

So 'Let us bleed together' ;)

Thanks all for reading my ramblings.

Cheers.
