Gameforge Island of Fire tournament : we iszzzzz best paintedszz :)
Just the painting part of the competition though ;)
That's Rueben, the event organizer handing out my prize which was actually a shop voucher worth RM75.
And that's Doc selvam in the background, the generous and hensem sponsor for the painting prizes.
We also managed to tie for 3rd placing overall but missed out on more loot by victory points count. 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 lost was not a bad showing by the slow Initiative 1 Lizardmen. How i loved the expression on my opponents faces when i informed that my saurs scar vet would be hitting first on Initiative 10 from the gold sigil sword hehehe. Initiative 10!!! How is that/really/errr!!! Good laughs all around.
It was nice to have won the best painted army I must admit. All those nights spicing up the lizardmen was worth it in the end. It was even nicer because the best painted army was decided by players voting. So in essence i got the people's choice award. Warm fuzzy feeling being acknowledged by your peers and friends :)
I had a great time and played against some very fun and upstanding gentlemen. I forgot to take pics of my 3rd, 4th and 5th opponent coz i was on a 2 win record then and forgot all about it heheh. First round, would u believe it ...i met.....
And second round....
My last game against Kang and his chaos warriors was truly memorable. It was a story of 2 halves. Unfortunately he got the better of the 2nd half and TAed me. He was eventually the 3rd best. Thanks for the game man!!
Special thanks to Rueben and his crew for organizing the event. Gameforge Penang for hosting it. All my 5 opponents who were truly fun to play against. Special mention to Peter, my fourth round opponent, whose 3 winged horses didn't exactly look like they were flying....more like crashing to the ground hehehe. Shame on you man :P
Super duper kudos to Wood elf Lord Iqbal for winning the event. More of his exploits on the Legio site.
I leave you with Scar-Locke and his mighty warband who won the best painted honor for the Wildhost.
Truly you guys were from the blessed 7th spawning of the 7th spawning :)
Cheers everyone :)

Lizardmen ready to invade Gameforge, Penang
Fuuuhhhhhhhhhh.......long sighhhhhhhhhhh.....
These 16 saurus will be the main force in this list accompanying the scar veteran. Not sure if i can place the hero and champion on the sides....they're there because the models wouldn't fit nicely in the middle.
Now all i have to do is take them for a few spin and re-learn the fantasy rules :)
Perhaps this hobby night. Anyone up for it??
All boxed up and ready for the trip to Penang :)
Ohhh and i didn't just complete these saurues. Also managed to get one of these beauties done ;)
More on them in the next post.

Lizardmen command squad done. And a sweet distraction :)
I didn't get a before pic of the champion so i'll just show it after touch up.
I do however have before pics of the standard bearer and musician. I can't believe i was satisfied with how they looked when i finished them way back in 2010. Like i said previously, the interest to paint them plummeted and i just wanted them done. More like half done...
Now all i have left to paint for this border patrol force are 16 saureses.
Unfortunately for me....... this little nugget crawled out of the woodwork hehe.

Spicing up the Lizardmen
As u can see from the proof below.
The lack of effort is so obvious. We definitely can't have these models represent the Wildhost for the upcoming event. Good excuse to do some much needed touch up plus at 500 points there won't be too many models that i need to work on.
So for the next few days i'll do some re-work to raise the standard of the Lizardmen patrol. Gameforge has even mentioned a best painted patrol :) Who knows....
I present to you the touched up salamander hunting pack.
Not masterpieces but acceptable i think :)
At 75 points for a fire spouting breath template damage small dragon, i wish i had the points to take 2 of these. Unfortunately not.
Next up will be the skink priest.

Gameforge 500 points Border Patrol Tourney
Led by the legendary 7th spawn of the 7th spawn saurus scar-veteran Grim-locke the Grim, the lizardmen of the Wildhost will try their damnest not to be maimed and/or slaughtered hehe!!
It's been a while since i took part in a tournament or played fantasy....actually this will be my first fantasy tournament entered..ouch....
But it will be a good trip. Together with my partners in pillage, Jeff Deathkorps and Iqbal wood warden ( i wish both of them good luck getting their patrol painted...not :), Penang islanders will rue the day that Gameforge and Doc Selvam opened their peaceful and beautiful island to the savage Lizardmen, Beastmen ....and ahhh wood loving tree hugging elves.

2.5 K Lizardmen army completed
I even managed to get a game in against Khun Faizal over the weekend J. First win for the fully painted lizardmen ! Double Huzzah!!!
I admit that there are still minor things that I need to touch up, which I will be doing over the coming months but the important things is that this list is fully painted to tabletop standards. It’s not as nicely painted as my saim-hann but it serves the purpose well.
This will be my only second fully painted army. It’s a huge relief that I have finally managed to complete it. Nice feeling to have when you can see them all on the table fully painted and raring to go. It’s like putting that final piece in a 1750 piece jigsaw puzzle.
I bought this army around middle 2009 and only managed to get it done in Feb 2011. Nothing to be proud of and I hope I won’t be making this mistake again. So no more buying until I complete my next project.
2nd resolution is the organizing on K2 which is going well so far.
Just a reminder, guys please confirm your participation by paying your fees to Arzmi if you want that cool K2 t-shirt J.
3rd resolution starts tonite!! My 1750 space marine force. My initial target was to get it done by 31st May but now it’s going to be pushed forward to 15th May so that I can enter it for Sporecon which is scheduled to on 28th and 29th May.
I have my list, have all the models I need for the list, completed painting one squad as a test unit and quite happy with the result. So now I need to put the effort into it and finish it.
I’ll post the test unit next week. No more secrets for me this time around guysJ. I’ve created a monster trend of building armies in total secrecy and it seems like there are so many secret armies in progress at the moment. Esp true for K2. Everyone is so hush hush about their projects!!
So I’ll try to rectify this trend that I’ve created by sharing with you guys my progress for this army. Or…..perhaps I should still do it in secret…..hhmmmmmm.
Let’s see………………………..

Lizardmen continued

Progress has been really slow
As you can see, there's still a lot left to paint before this army is ready for the battlefields. The positive is that the majority of my army is assembled. That's at least worth something huh..
I do still have a box and some loose cold one riders and need to get another skinks box which i intend to convert to chameleons. Way much affordable than buying the metal ones.
The big question now is do i wait and finish painting everything before i debut them or just play them unpainted to learn the rules?? I've never ever played fantasy so the 2nd option sounds smart. But i do have something against playing unpainted models. I'll just be frank...i wouldn't feel good putting unpainted models on the table. I wonder where i got this from....hmmmmm.
My previous target was end of september to get them fully painted but already i'm 2 weeks behind. Time to walk the talk!!

The Sauruses
1. The 40 saurus.
2. I spray painted them ice blue. Although air-brushing them saved me a lot of time, spraying 41 models took quite some time.
3. I then gave them a wash of asurmen blue. Asurmen?? Isn't he an eldar? Hehehhe
Close up of the scar veteran.
And in between the spraying and washing, i managed to assemble the stegadon. Its a really nice model. Iz advised me to get another one. I think maybe i will ;) The skink and saurus are there just to show the size. I stuffed the stegadon with clay so it has some weight to it.

24 skinks are done.
Not too shabby huh?? I mean the pictures. Vast improvement over the last few posts. Wonders what the Sun Lens of Fujidigitalcameratix can do. Truly the blessings of the old ones are embodied in this magical and ancient artifact!!
Next on the table - 40 saurus warriors. 2 blocks of 20 warriors each. One block led by an oldblood.
Let's how long these will take me. I'm targeting 2 weeks. Wish me luck.
